While Bill has a pretty good answer, I would say there are 2.

Oops. As I review your question, I see you have asked for 'control panel', not panels. Bill is correct, there is ONE type of panel. GA for Bill.

Well now, the OP did ask how many "types" of control panel there are. So, with that in mind, we'll need to come to some sort of consensus as to whether the OP wants a singular answer, in which case bill is correct or whether he wants types of control panel(s) and didn't frame the question in such a way that he could get the answer he desires.
