DP Transmitter URL

07/22/2010 2:52 AM

I received a transmitter as per our requirement

process data : pressure normal/design (psig): 47/150

temperature normal/design : 200deg F/-20 to 250 deg F

Instrument range (psid) - 0 to 8

calibration range (psid) - 0 to 5

process fluid : glycol

sensor element - diaphram

but recived transmitters nameplate is having : URL is 160 KPa

LRL is -160 KPa

that means upper range lmit of the sensor is 160KPa =23.20 but our process normal pressure is 47 psig , my doubt is ULR is less than process normal pressure which is not crrect.

as static pressure for the diaphram is not mentioned.

model no is 2600T series ABB 264DS

please kindly clarify my doubt

thanks

Hello Guest,

The -160 to 160 kPa ( -23.2 to 23.2 psid) Span Limit will certainly handle your 0 - 5 psid calibration span.

If you look at the Datasheet, page 3 for sensor code H (that is yours) shows Overpressure Limit of

– 21MPa, 210bar, 3045psi

Your 47 psig is well within these limits, so it looks like you're good to go.

For confirmation, call ABB. Contact info is on the last page of the datasheet.

Don't give up!

It's just that guest doesn't understand the difference between the line pressure and the differential pressure specifications on this type of instrument. It's whether guest is adequately trained to assess the manufacturer's specifications against the user requirements that is in question. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Thanks for the encouragement, PW.

Looks like you got scorched for your kind words though.

Still, I appreciate it.
