This question is indecipherable. And, it DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

Clearly posters #2 and #3 could make sense of the question, so I guess that makes a right ass of your post (once again).

But one comes before 2 an 3!

And then even 2 admits that the question was a bit underformulated! If posting in an engineering forum you would expect engineering questions which means you give the necessary information to UNDERSTAND the question. How else would you get a proper reply? I wonder sometimes about the patience of people to answer halfasked unengineered questions.

PILC = paper insulated lead-sheathed cable.

XLPE = cross-linked polyethylene; if memory serves this insulation is good for 90°C.

I suppose the "fullform" of cable consists of a long round thingy with wire in the middle and insulation around it.

A fully formed question would have been nice....

Hi,

The medium voltage cable components are as follows

Conductor, conductor screen, insulation, insulation screening, sheath/armour & outer jacketing. A Cable can be single or multicore (Usually three for mv)

Insulation can be provided by different materials like EPR,Paper impregnated with oil(PILC),cross linked polyethylene(XLPE), Poly Vinyl chloride(PVC)

To know more about cables, Please refer BICC handbook by Mcalister. It is also available as a ebook.

Please feel free to ask further questions

Regards

Amit

If you knew so much about cables, why did you ask the question in the first place? Why didn't you refer to the book you have referred to. Wanted to pull a fast one us all.
