For an intercommunicating volume of liquid in a gravitational field, the pressure of the liquid at the "bottom" is greater than that at the "top" in proportion to the fluid density, the strength of the gravitational field, and the difference in height. Except for that, the pressure in the intercommunicating volume is the same throughout (Pascal's principle).
