R-410A Refrigerant

07/26/2010 11:01 PM

the newer 410a refridgerant is being used in existing air handlers with a valve change. Is the evaporator compatible with the higher pressures?

The evaporator is on the low-pressure side, and not so likely to have a problem. The condenser, on the other hand, is on the high-pressure side, and is more likely to have a problem. In any case, it all depends on the pressure ratings of the specific items involved. In addition, the compressor may be electrically overloaded. See the other recent thread on R-410A.

What was the old fluid?

What does the original equipment manufacturer have to say on the topic?

This is on new equipment originally produced for R22 but sent with the newer R410

a valve with a 410a condensor.
