E-Z Pass for the Skies

Since June 21st Orlando International Airport has a registered traveler pilot program, CLEAR(TM). Registered travelers can carry a 'clear' card that fits in a wallet. Users go through an intensive background check, and the card contains personal information, including biometric info. The cards are used at kiosks in the airport and require finger print matching and retinal scans. Frequent flyers claim a huge time savings at security checkpoints.

I'm generally opposed to situations where money buys you a better place in line. The decision makers usually have money. As a result their incentive to fix the inconveniences faced by the rest of society is not as high as if they had to wait in the same line as everybody else.

From their website:
How much does it cost to become a Clear Member? The first year annual fee is $79.95.
