Plumber Block Match

07/28/2010 8:29 AM

Hi i don't know which size of bearing and sleeve can match for the plumber block of sn 511, sn509, sn516, andsn 515. Then i can see the letters of "sn" on the plumber block. What it's representing.?

As lynlynch says, SN = Serial Number. Usually at any rate.....

As Andy mentioned, under most circumstances 'SN' would refer to 'serial number' unless it is included in the actual part number, as is the case here.

In this case 'SN' is a model designation which identifies overall design differences between the various models offered.

The first part of the numerical portion of the number refers to load capacity, indirectly at least, and the end of the numerical portion refers to overall size. If you pick one, say SN517, you will notice that most all dimensions are the same as SN217 except for the bearing ID. This infers variations in bearing design and size which would affect load rating. Unfortunately the information provided on the site linked by Lynlynch is pretty sparse.

At least the OP now knows the manufacturer and has a general idea related to series, model, and size of the plummer blocks in question. He can now either dive into the website looking for the information he needs, or better yet, call a local sales rep for the company as the site seems poorly designed related to providing the technical data on plummer blocks which the OP might be looking for.

I gave him the fish he wanted. He didn't ask for a whole damn boatload!

Anyway, it is hoped that when the OP discovers the ease with which he can recover information, BY HIMSELF, he will harvest his own thereafter.

Thanks.

Completely agree. And I hope you didn't take my comment as it was directed to the caliber of your reply... on the contrary... I was poking at the OEM's site. I mean really... if you plan on giving multiple ID dimensions, at least depict them on the diagram.

And I searched for 5 minutes on the site for the OEM clarification between models but to no avail.

And, besides, I needed some place to unload all these darn fish, they were biting really good today. Maybe we could invite some plumbers over and have a fish feast. Who knows, nothing like freshly caught perch to turn a conversation to plummers.

Some one else give this man a good answer!

I looked at this post trying to figure out why a plumber would need or use a block except to temporarily stop a drain line. I still learn something every day!
