Air Line Losses in Pipe and Flexible Metallic Hoses

08/05/2010 3:10 PM

Dear All,can any body tell me that what is the difference between frictional pressure loss of air in a cast iron pipe and a flexible metallic hose of same dia and length.

plus if there is difference then on which factors this depends like the longitudinal cross section of hose etc.

thanks,

regards,

hasnain

Frictional loss is a factor of diameter and length. Of course, material properties have an effect, but it depends on what the internal diameter and length of your hose is in order to consider them.

Not much. The higher the velocity of the air, the higher the loss.

Ask Mr. Reynolds.

How about the Darcy-Weisbach generalised equation for flow in round conduits?
