Pump Motor Coupling Alignmnet

I am not aware whether any standard available. Generally the guidelines from OEM is followed. For bigger equipments in some cases, OEM's recommend 'cold misalignment' (to take care of thermal expantion) so that machine will get aligned in hot condition while running. Howevere, if OEM recommendation is not available following guideline for coupling alignment tolerances can be used:

- Axial misalignment for flexible couplings : 0.02/100 mm

- Axial misalignment for solid couplings : 0.01/100 mm

- Radial misalignment : 0.03 mm

-Concentricity (dial indicator on periphery of coupling): +/- 0.05 mm

(0.10 mm total indicator run out)

If for some reason you do not have a dial indicator...use a rule + feeler gauges

Use the rule across the coupling flanges and check gap with feelers - tap to align..

- Axial (for fexible couplings) : 0.02/100 mm

- Axial (for rigid couplings) : 0.02/100 mm

- Radial : 0.03 mm

- Concentricity : +/- 0.05 mm
