Flow Meter Selection

08/09/2010 9:29 AM

Hi,

There's a pipeline network with seawater being pumped and going to various places.

It doesn't have a flow meter, so our client wants to measure water in each header and branch pipe, we just know the maximum flow rates from pump charact curve

May I know what sort of portable flow instrument to be used, because this is some study report.

Regards,

jose

The clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter is ideal for this job.

A clamp on meter will work well. You need to know the range that the meter will have to operate over as most meters have only a 50 to 1 range, best I've seen is 100 to 1 sampling meters. Go to Thomas Net and you can find out everything there is to know about flow meters.

Hi Jose,

A clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter would be good for this application. They are available in single and dual channel units allowing multiple measurements into one unit. These instruments can also log all the data for reporting.

I am the Clamp-on Ultrasonic flowmeter product manager for Siemens. If you would like more information on our clamp-on flowmeter please visit the site below or contact me at martin.dingman@siemens.com
