Repair Method for Ferrite Number's Over

Dear all,

I have a Vessel consists SA387 Gr.11 Cl.2 material cladded with SS410S.

Construction Code : ASME SEC VIII Div.1.

i have specification that ferrite number is 3~10 FN after weld overlay but after

weld overlay, ferrite number is 14~15 FN .then, i want to know that cause of ferrite

number's over(14~15 FN) and repair method for ferrite number can down(3~10 FN)

(Consumable selected for welding of SS410S is 309L type).

Dear Member

Can you give detalis about welding process & PWHT?

Usually E309 can attain FN upto 15, so i think a lower FN level filler should have been chosen.

I'm sorry. my information is mistake.see below is correct

first weld is E309L(carbon to ss clad weld) .then check copper sulfate test and PT(Liquid Penetrant Testing) about first welded area before final weld(E308L). I want to know what is cause ferrite number's over(14~15FN) after final weld(E308L) and what is repair method for FN is turn in spec(3~10 FN)
