I have to design cascade multilayer bandpass filter using combline resonator for my final year project. I search for the related journal and i found nothing related to my project. How do i'am going to start my final year project?. Right now, lecturer ask me to find the related journal for my proposal. Can you help me find to those journal please?. Kindly tell us where and how you searched.

Is no one capable of independent thought any more? Can no one come up with an original concept?

Good luck with your quest for predigested knowledge. It will fail you, and anyone

who hires you.

What will you do when you have a real problem to solve?

CR4 is not a "homework cheat site". There are only a few people that will do homework for others and many CR4 members would prefer that none "do" homework.

As Lynlynch said, please show some of your work and search results. If you need a little help with something you have done a lot of work on you will probably get a lot more responses on CR4.

It is also good to register. As a Guest you join a large group of arrogant people that think we have nothing else to do in life but sit around waiting for a chance to do kids homework for them. As a registered member with a name and some work to show you will fit in with us much better.

We already did our homework once. If you want us to do it again then you have to make it interesting for us.

Now that I have devoted 4 paragraphs to saying "no" I'll go ahead and say something that might be helpful. I have never in my life researched designing a circuit by searching a "related journal". Perhaps you should consider Google, Yahoo, or similar. They are wonderful tools and it's a shame that most people never consider using them.

If someone is expecting you to use a "journal" then you might need to figure out why they are hung up on a "journal". What do they really mean and why do they mean it. Do they actually know what they are doing? Do you know what you are trying to do? Does your instructor value doing what they say more than doing what is needed to get the job done?

Did you try Google?

http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=cascade+multilayer+bandpass+filter+using+combline+resonator&meta=&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,760 for cascade multilayer bandpass filter using combline resonator. (0.25 seconds)

"I have to design cascade multilayer bandpass filter".......................

You are not designing anything! What you are going to do is copy someone else's design.

So, you won't learn anything about designing circuits, you'll just learn how to copy someone's existing design, the lazy man's solution.

I also agree!

I hope you are talking about final year of high school, not final year of tech school or college/university!

A good starting point would be "IC Op-Amp Cookbook" by Walter G. Jung, originally published in 1974 by Howard W. Sams & Co., ISBN 0-672-21695-7. On the other hand, I doubt if it will be much help in only 3 weeks, unless perhaps you do nothing else but experiment over and over for those three weeks.

Good luck!

I do not agree. In order to be a good designer one needs to read up and understand other designs. That way you will learn the good and the bad. Blindly going into designing a system without researching it first is not wise. Learning from others mistakes is not cheating and is certainly not copying.

What your post is basically saying is that going to school and getting an eductaion (beacuse this involves reading up on what others have written) is copying and this, I am sure you will agree, is completly absurd. The fact that so many agreed with you is actually worrying.

Learning and doing your own research are two different things. While you learn from whatever source that is available for you, and one can also use such experience in life, engineering projects are still to be with some originality and hard work. It does not mean one is closing eyes to the world.

Here's some good information I found that I think is directly relevant to your senior design project. (I couldn't post the full link here, it was messing up)

Re: Final Year Project

Yes, it does not matter how small your contribution is, if only it has some originality.

Learning from others is not a bad idea but the work which is claimed to be one's own need to be so.

Most of the knowledge is assimilated and repetitive but some that you do on your own is the best of all.

Worst of all is to hire someone to do the copy cat work for you. If it is done by your teacher using some other student's work to put your name on it then I do not know what to call it. One Director of big Engineering Institute took Ph.D. thesis of a nuclear scientist and placed name of student working under him as his work under his guidance which has become a serious legal problem for him and perhaps resulted in loss of his job position.

This problem is serious one as many students pay to the teachers more than what otherwise they will get as salary and there is no serious legal action against them for copy cat work of engineering project. Students have learnt it that it is a nice way for them to proceed rather than doing it with hardship.

Every year I guided engineers in several new areas but subsequently all those work reports were copied for the last 20 years generally by the teachers and report printers for financial gain. Obviously those worked hard are in much better position and those copied are so so. Some teachers even threaten students for losing their financial gains. It has taken an ugly shape more of a criminal nature than that of real learning at good institutions. Students sometime are victims and sometime part of the criminal process.

No one is taking it seriously. Some institutions give extra marks to students on orders from administration such that next year more students will move there for easy gain of marks. Now that puts good institutions at some virtual disadvantage.

It starts somewhere and becomes perpetual.

That is truly alarming, if not surprising. I wish I could say that doesn't happen here in the USA, but it probably does, at least to some extent. Just this month, 5 local policemen were being investigated for submitting advanced degrees that they had simply purchased... The internet makes many things toooo easy!

Re: Final Year Project

Well, in USA some big institutes make very big show of small things because they have lots of grants to put money in show up while at other places students and professors working hard get no great recognition as they can not make very big public show.

You purchase any junk painting for million dollar and then all want to look at it, and some time they also want to look at you too. Money plays a role in science and technology recognition also. You know where NSF and other grants go a lot. It is like a big magnet out there. I agree that big organization are big as there are some great team there but such great small teams are elsewhere also that also need equal support.

Story in India is in open for all. I will avoid exceptions.

At some places, greed makes people to cheat and moral value is too low and also education standards have no great meaning. Good thing is that students even from such places do reform themselves to great extent when they move to some good organizations. Ill effect is more of the environment in which they enter. It is a moral duty of the Governments to clean up such dirty environments where moral value of new comer student decreases. Mushrooming institutes and low standards is all known for the Governments and the people, and sometime they are overlooked believing that time will change them after their greed gets satisfied. To some extent this does happen. Once financial pressure is low, some people reform themselves, but some others may still become worst.

Educational crimes by management teams and professors are directly or indirectly linked to financial crimes and only in some cases to moral crimes by professors. Student's bad role is in making a moral crime committed during copy cat work or hired work or stolen work. This is where they start and also end their moral life. It is sure a very sad thing to do to ruin one's moral value before starting a real life. Sometime parents are also a party to all this or at least they know what their child is doing and they do not guide the child in right direction and some willingly pay the money involved.

Opportunities of bad kind makes opportunities of good kind useless. 24 weeks or 48 weeks hard work with loss of money and time resulting into still in a poor quality work or just 1 week copy cat of some great work in one's name are two choices one has. Some do select the hard way out but some know their worth so the second choice gives them superior outcome for time being on paper, so called professional engineering degree. What is more alarming is that the trend is increasing towards the second choice.

The grim picture should also give some great value to those who do real hard work and take all pains to build their life of great moral value for themselves, for their family and for their community and for their country country and for this world of all of us. I will like more people to move to this side and for this I keep working all the time. You can increase the number by one and it does matter. Welcome.

Teachers in colleges putting their name on underlings work? Wow, not surprised there. But of course, nothing like "professors" that have no real experience. I had a senior "lab class" and had to give a presentation on testing an air conditioning unit and make "recommendations how to improve efficiency". The evap coils were freezing up and I said the data was useless and it needed to be recharged and do the test again--I provided proof with superheat data and pressures. Pencil pushers said I can't do that in real world, I "didn't answer the question". One month later I heard they brought in a maintenance guy and he recharged the unit and it worked.

I heard rumors the next year from the teacher assistant grad students that some punk last year told them their stuff was broken. I think they said he was crazy. I still laugh about it.

Academia isn't were great things happen. It's were many people hide that can't make it in real life.

Guest, many of these self professed experts that inhabit this forum are old and bitter and are unwilling/ unable to advise many young people on how to proceed along their chosen career path. Having said that I am in agreement that this is not a forum for doing homework.

Google seems to be the search engine of choice proposed by many of the posters on CR4, indeed some of the esteemed members here seem to know nothing other than the use of Google, however I digress slightly.

Google is fine if you want to book a cheap holiday and Wikipedia is fine if you are after a good story so my suggestion, for what it is worth, would be that you use www.sciencedirect.com, www.scirus.com, www.elsevier.com or perhaps www.scopus.com. These are excellent resources.

Regarding post #2 As a Guest you join a large group of arrogant people that think we have nothing else to do in life but sit around waiting for a chance to do kids homework for them. As a registered member with a name and some work to show you will fit in with us much better. This is not actually the whole truth. You will fit in much better if you do not express an opinion or try and disrupt the status quo that exists to the determent of CR4.

You have a good point. Perhaps NASA educational information for students and IEEE student education support are worth trying out. IEEE funds small projects by students members. Also see what others are doing at the Universities but limit it to picking the ideas and exploring beyond. One can also visit industries nearby and see what they can do for them which also fits into their project work. Some research organizations also allow students to see what is going around and one can start working along with someone there and it will also be a high level guided work.

India has large number of such supporting organizations. These are Department of Atomic energy, CSIR, DRDO, NPL and University Labs. DST also supports research activity of students by funding the project.

The data "Guest" is looking for is "The related.....", suggesting a specific paper.

Maybe "Guest" has looked on the internet instead of an Intranet.

When I was at Uni, some projects were added to year-on-year, with each student being marked on their progress/addition to the gathered knowledge.

Try this search on google.

"multilayer bandpass filter" + combline resonator

You can even try adding "pdf" at the end.
