Is it possible to measure 1 phase current in 3 phase 4 wire KWH meter?

Not possible because kWH meter is an energy meter is not a current meter or AM.

But if you use this kWH for your 3P-4W system and there is only one phase is loaded, in this case the meter is done and not display in A. So you are in the unbalanced load which finally you are not so efficient in using EE power.

Please correct me too if I am wrong.

Thank

You can't measure current with a kWH meter, per se. However, you should be able to measure the kWH of only one phase if you have the current and voltage of that phase properly connected to the meter.

Not really.

It IS possible, however, using a clamp-on ammeter.

RS Components (usual disclaimer)? Maplins (usual disclaimer)?

HI Guest,

The KWH Meter is used to measure out the consumed electric energy, if you want to get the amperage reading, then use a clamp-on ammeter......

I am guessing the OP's question should be "Is it possible to measure 1 phase energy (KWH) in 3 phase 4 wire KWH meter?"

If my guess is correct, the answer is 'Yes'. You can use 3 phase 4 wire energy meter (3 element energy meter) for measuring single phase load. It will accurately record the energy consumed by the load. For the wiring connection, connect the phase to one of the line terminals and neutral to the neutral terminal with leaving other two line terminals unconnected. Similarly connect the load side.

dear,

It isa possible only if KWH is 3 Cts type. @ CT meter may not read correctly, as the readings are phase sequence sensitive.
