Capacitor Connection

pls tell me why does cap/cap-bank is connected in parallel with load as a condenser ,what would be the problem if connected in series with load?

The usual reason for installing a capacitor bank across a load in power transmission terms, is to "tune" the circuit to the power supply frequency, thereby increasing the power factor, reducing feeder losses, and reducing tariff payments. It is the tariff payments that drive the action.
