Multi-use Generator System Needed

03/05/2007 8:40 PM

Is there a generator system which can handle,

a/ generating electricity,

b/ output the power to load and battery bank

c/ get power from grid when the generator is down

d/ the excess power will also reverse back to grid system automatically?

the system has to take care all the requirements above at the same time.

An asynchronous motor - generator complies with all your requirements, completed with the suitable elctrical switchgear.

Most of the modern wind mill generators are equiped with this kind of generator-motor.

Forty years ago I installed the first asynchronous motor, working as super synchronous generator and nobody belived me until I sowed then the machine working properly.

A major home improvement chain in the UK retails a suitable unit for the home at <£1500 Sterling, including installation and local taxes.

The answer, therefore, is "yes".

Have a look at any of the grid-tie systems. As a completed system these do meet the criteria you describe. Most of them include some form of battery storage to act as a buffer. The asynchronous M-G set described by one poster probably comes closest to being all in one box to fit the requirements. You did not mention how much power capacity you are looking for. This will definitely affect how much choice you have from off the shelf systems.

<the system has to take care all the requirements above at the same time.>

You do not mean SAME TIME?

THESE ARE POSSIBLE:

a>b

c>b

dsurplus>grid -------by suitably exciting

but these are always possible with a Synchronous machine!!
