Bleach Production

08/30/2010 3:28 PM

Given the quantity of heat evolved during the dilution of sodium hydroxide in water and the corrosive nature of the caustic itself, I was wondering if using the same tank to make a 50% caustic solution and to bubble chlorine into that solution is a wise idea. Is separate tanks recommended, or given the right provisions can it be done?

Consult a Process Engineer locally.
