Posting Pictures

09/02/2010 11:33 AM

I understand how to post pics, using Firefox, but for various reasons, I'm using Chrome I know how to post pics from the web using Chrome

How do I post files from my computer, without using photobucket or the like, which would be the same as posting from the web...

I don't use Chrome either, but I don't hate the people who do.

Hi Garth,

I was running Chrome for a while, and for all it's great features (not sure about all the deleted comments, but I DO like Chrome), it really isn't compatible with CR4's posting tools. You only get a screen to type in, and then all <CR> and such are deleted. I am not sure if the problem is Chrome, or the CR4 site design, but in either case, they are not nicely compatible.

Sorry to Google Chrome, but I finally uninstalled it ... IE is my least favorite browser, but at least it works most of the time.

Kind regards ...

I am actually surprised that the CR4 server does not accept .pdf files or even a clip board image direct (paste). PDF files seem to have a small file size, and .pdf files are common and actually easily created from just about any application including CAD. Using MS cut and paste may even be faster.

- is there another way? - I tried to post numerous different file types via the picture upload interface, a message from the server tat it does not accept the file type was the result every time. Why is it so restrictive?

For upluads in general try filezilla - great program.

The basic set up here on CR4 hasn't been updated since it updated from an older format that was more like a chatroom,

you can paste but you have to go through the editor bar, which only comes up for IE or FF browsers.

I'm on linux, so I can't use IE

Cr4 is on a custom set up which better fits their business model, than one of the more usual choices

OK Garth,

It does appear that an upload would be possible of other than .bmp format if it was not restricted by the server via the "post" interface that comes up for all users, regardless of platforms

- I am using Mozilla - NO IE?

Easier responses to messages and easy of posting upgrades would benefit all CR4 members regardless of the platform used.

CR4 is the best forum out there and it better stay that way!

Has CR4 changed anything since this discussion?

Nothing has changed, the CR4 editorbar is only supported for the Firefox & IE browsers

Users of safari [apple], chrome, opera....

don't get an editorbar at all

there is code that can be used for linking to images, sites on the web, bold or italic text, hard returns...

to add to the info you linked to, pgn & bmp formats are also supported by CR4

I was hoping magaulin or whoever is in charge of the programing these days & tell us a trick[code] to get pics onto the CR4 server

you can tell a new member on one of the other browsers, by the dense blocks of text, without a paragraph :D
