Finding a Suitable Job

Hello Everyone,

I have experience in Detailed engineering and prototype testing of Ammonia Reformers, Fuel Cells and Diesel Generators. I have in-lab and on-site testing exposures. I am currently looking for a suitable job. Please help me.

  1. Prepare a selection of CVs.
  2. Look for job adverts in newspapers and technical periodicals. Apply for them.
  3. Look for agencies that specialise in that type of work. Contact them.
  4. Find out what technical job websites are available locally. Upload the CVs to the websites.
  5. Look for suitable companies that could employ the person described in the CV. Approach them speculatively.
  6. Network with like-minded colleagues outside the workplace. Follow up leads.
  7. Attend interviews and remember that the interviewer has a problem so serious that the only way to solve the problem is to employ someone. Sell the solution to the problem: hire the interviewee.
  8. Go to 2 and repeat at intervals until a position is secured.
  9. Once a position is secured, gather experience to add to the CV. Go to 1 and repeat as necessary.

Thank you very much for your help.

My problem is that even though I have performed the steps 1-5, I am still unable to get any calls from the companies that I have applied for. As per my understanding, the basic issue behind this is that I am a Chemical Engineer and I am working in a Telecom Company. So even though I have relevent experience, no companies are able to accept an applicant who is a chemical engineer and working in telecom. If I am applying in the telecom industries then they again look that i am only a Chemical Engineer.

It sound as though the places you are applying are too hung up on this or that particular college degree. That may be short-sighted on their part. You might be able to apply for and start at an intermediate level position, and then prove your skills on the job, hoping for advancement soon.

In interviews, try to emphasize how your prior experiences (if not your degree title) will cater to the job requirements. Best of luck!
