Y.S. And Material Thickness Relationship

Please tell me that why Y.S. value will be reducing if material thickness will be increased.

Assumption: the abbreviation YS="yield stress".

Is the item subject to stretching/compression stress or to bending stress?

That is not true. The yield stress is independent of material thickness. Yield stress is a property of the material.
