dPLC/dDCS = PL/DS.

Or, if you are just looking for words, Programmabpe Logic Controller vs. Digital Control System.

You should ask Wiki, or just Google for a simple answer. Then, when you have a notion of the difference you MIGHT have an intelligent question.

In this case, DCS stands for distributed control system, I think.

plc is programabel logic control, you can build the program witlh logic:or/and/not/nand,etc,usualy its use for small control,or per section control, example one plant have some section,so you can use one plc in one section.dcs is distrbuted control system, you can build the program with some block control.its use for big control ,100 input/output or 1000 input/output or much, you can use one dcs for control all the system with one dcs.I think plc use for little or small input/output.and dcs use for much input/output.

Dear,

PLC is Programmable Logic Controller. It has the processor that processes the Inputs and Outputs named IOs. It is usually special for a part of the system but DCS distributed control system on the other hand is large controller with more functionalities handling more IOs. It is distributed since we can communicate within the same system having different controllers at different places. while plc has only one controller.

Best Regards,

Over on the right of the page there is a box entitled "Search this Forum" or "Search all of CR4". I plugged in "PLC DCS" into that function and got page after page of hits. Click here to see. This has been discussed many many times...
