OutlookExpress's Un-Stable Work.

09/18/2010 12:37 AM

I have used Dell Dimension3100C PC since Mar. 2006.

I also used e-mail software,the Outlook Express.

I kept all received messages and all sent messages since 2006.

I used Outlook Express (tool) (option) (maintenance tab) to store all received and all sent messages on F:(data) Drive on sub-directory F:\Outlook Express Data.

But on Sep.6 2010 this sub-directory was erased.

All messages since 2006 were can not read.

Why dis issue was happen?

Please tell me.

What evidence do you have that the sub-directory really was erased on Sep.6 2010?

Because messages only after Sep 6 15:15 are displayed.

All old messages were erased.

Outlook Express has a button on the tool bar " Show all Messages", if you select to drop the associated menu it reads " Hide read Messages" and " Hide read or ignored Messages", check to see if you have accidentally hidden your emails?

Regards JD.

Hi all My boss had a similar problem with outlook express. Most of his emails were lost or deleted. We had an expert to try and recover the lost emails but it was not successful. I think the capabilities of outlook express is limited. Specially when your email folders become bulky. I don't think outlook express can handle more than a few thousand emails. My advice is migrate to Microsoft Office Outlook, which is very stable even at 10gygabytes or more email folders. However I use another approach to guarantee I don't lose my emails. I got a gmail account. I use this account to gather all my pop emails. I have set my account to IMAP, and I have chosen to leave my emails on the server after download. So if my laptop got stolen or my HDD fails I can download back all my emails. It is a perfect solution it's all free and I got 7gbytes of space on gmail and it keeps growing. It has another advantage I can access my emails from anywhere on the internet, even from my mobile. Hope this will throw some light.

I am not using Outlook Express since long though its Address-book still using as my main Adress Book.

See the options if there is any for clearing old messages periodically or Archiving it.
