Specs of ASTM A786 Floor Plate

I need a realistic yield point for A786 floor plate. What little information I can find indicates that it does not have a specification, but it is recommended for stairways and the like so it must have a predictable strength which can be depended upon. About the only thing I can find is that it has "less than 33% carbon" Is this listed anywhere which I can access for free? Advice anyone?

A36 has a 36,000 psi yield point, and 30,000 has been a standard for hot rolled steel for a very long time. Do I use 30,000, or maybe 33,000? (Yes, I know about safety factors) It isn't likely to be less than "regular" hot rolled plate is it?

Purpose is a loading dock and thickness is 1/4 inch.

It really doesn't matter what the yield point is as long as you provide adequate flat bars or angle stiffening welded to the underside of the plate.

Thanks for the reply. You are absolutely right, but knowing the yield point seems necessary to calculate what is "adequate" additional stiffening, and if any is required.

Less than 1/2" AISI 1009. Over 1/2" ASTM-a 36.

I found this at the following site: http://www.pragtic.com/vmat.php

1009 Ultimate tensile strength 470 MPa (about 68 ksi).

Under tension yield strength would be 75% of that, and under shear 65% of that.

This would be a good place to start.
