Draining for Sample Analysis

09/23/2010 4:35 AM

Case Study:

The product in a core pipe with steam jacketed pipe; the product temperature reaches up to 250 oc and P down to 1atm. To drain it, it is impossible to drain the product when there is pressure difference relative to Atm. my question is, how to quench the P in order to drain the product for laboratory analysis. What meachansim can be applied on!

product properties:

palm oil ester base

non hazardous

comply to ISO 22000

Install a small branch off the main pipe, aimed down. Put two valves in series, with enough pipe between to contain an adequate sample. To take a sample, close the lower valve; open the upper valve to fill the pipe; close the upper valve; and open the lower valve to drain the sample.

the above is the Reactors (R1A and R1B) convey to a common pipe line by a P3.

Condition of reactor:

400mbara

240 degree c

Condition of P3

Desgination T and P resp 240 and -1/4.5 to -1/4.

pipe line (jacketed)

my question is would it be possible to drain the productwith such condition by 2407, drain valve? or we any special piping design??? any innovative alternative??
