Relation Between the Sensitivity and Area of a PVDF Sensor

09/23/2010 2:12 PM

Please tell me how to calculate the area of PVDF Ii need to use for getting a particular amount of sensitivity.

I only know that Sensitivity of a sensor is directly proportional to the surface area of sensor .

Other factors are Force factor, Sensors electrical i/p impedance and diffraction coefficient .

The PVDF based sensors(Hydrophones, Microphones, Transducers) are very sophisticated elements.

There is a lot more to it then just calculating the surface.

I'm a scientist, and worked on many Hydrophone projects for naval applications, included PVDF.

There is a dedicated simulation software called, COMSOL for PVDF applications.

The more you'll learn the more you'll know about the secret of this "magical" material.

The shape, the bending, the pattern, these are just the beginning of the PVDF fun.

The surface area has nothing to do with the sensitivity.

It's more like an antenna, for audio band.

Cheers !

thank you sir for your valuable reply. i'm eager to know more about this PVDF from you.. I'm interested to carry out experiment using it..

I'm basically a post graduate student..
