After what drum pressure, drum level compensation will be considered?

If you are using Differential Pressure Type Level Transmitter for level measurement, at any pressure (Not more than working pressure of DPLT) & at any temperature (Impulse line should be filled with condensed measurand) you may consider.

In my plant, for triple pressure HRSG density compensation not considered for LP drum. Its working pressure is 5 bar & deisg pressure is around 6.2 bar. Is there any reason?

The reason will be that either:

  • the material in the drum has only one density, or
  • level measurement is not so critical that it will be affected by the range of densities that the equipment will experience.
