Regards.
Just for information as I see the construction here I am living with my family & have just from my country; Pakistan; and wonder that how vulnerable construction to fire or storms; with wood & boards it is in residential sector.
When I look to multistorey buildings am confused if the condition is in those; a problem in human life dangers & loss of property.
Is the construction of those sufficiently strong to live in those skyscrapers.

Buildings in North America and Europe are designed in accordance with the building code for the country, state or province where the building is to be constructed. Prior to construction, plans are presented to the authority having jurisdiction and are reviewed before a Building Permit is issued.
Construction is monitored by the architects and engineers who performed the design. If deficiencies are found, remedial measures are taken until they have been corrected.
With the exception of human error or unforeseen events, the buildings are believed to be safe for occupancy.

Thanks
I thought that mostly buildings are on a structure [metallic or concrete], floor [& roof as the floor of the lower storey becomes floor of the upper one] is of wooden beams & planks and partition of Boards. As I am living with my son.
But today I got a chance to have my Friday prayers in an under-construction multi-storey Mosque which has all the beams in structure and roofs [floors] of concrete.
Outer walls of bricks.
I only is intrested in to know the material used. When I came here I was astonished to feel the floor every where of wood, producing sound as if it is bending as you walk.
And wavy staircases seem not strong enough to support an old man climbing or decending down.
Wikipedia is a good source of general information and googled for my information but could not get for my needs.
Have seen some trading building which are single storey but had no chance to visit multistorey trade / commercial buildings except Airport having lifts & escalators which are as in my country, though of much bigger.
