Fireproofing

10/02/2010 8:29 AM

Respected All,

Our client demond fireproofing in tons and his description written in their Bill Of Quantity is "Fireproofing section over 0.1cm2" and the quantity against this item is 215 ton. As per Our understanding client description is wrong to written unit cm2 instead of m2 because the section area of small section is greater more than 200 time of 0.1cm2. Please send me the solution and clarify the fireproofing description early as soon as possible .

Regards,

Mohammad Younes

Is this question for real ? !

Which bit would you like us to correct, and against what criteria ?

I suggest you go back to your client, politely suggest that their specification appears to be in error, and ask if they could please confirm or amend the information provided.

Posting is not clear. I presume that the time may be for insulation with fire retardant properties. Please clarify for which application it is required.

That comes to 21,500,000 tons per square meter. That is a slightly heavier application than typically used, but better safe than sorry. Amassing this quantity will take some time, (do you need to apply the fireproofing to more than one square meter?) so you will want to start stockpiling the material right away.

As an alternative to investing heavily in fireproofing materials, I suppose you could ask the client to clarify what on earth they mean... but why do that when you can have CR4 people guess at possible meanings?
