How To Fix Rubber Tube Together For Sound Absorption

10/05/2010 10:43 AM

Comparing with rubber pad, I found row of rubber tube is more effective in reducing noise for impact load

The difficulty is how to fix rubber tubes together to a plate shape firmly by handmade method.

Anyone knows?

Thanks

I don't think it works for repeated punching (can still keep together).

Also, tube itself mostly is a little bit curve and difficult to set.

Any better idea?

You can get special EPDM adhesive from suppliers of EPDM roofing materials. That should do it.
Alternatively tie it to a cloth backing and let it wriggle a little...as the old joke goes
"Excuse me miss, do you keep stationary?"

How about lacing it together by passing string through the insides of the tubes and around the ends?

The good old engineers stand by "lash it together with a bit of string"

The other choice was duct tape!

Duct tape and bailing wire. If it is good enough for NASA, it is good enough for me...

Buy a rubber door mat (the type with knobbly bits) and cut a section out of that.
