The 415V 3φ is nominal. There is a -15%/+10% tolerance on it. Which means that the 1φ 240 V also has the same tolerance giving a range of 204 - 264 V which must be tolerated by normal 1φ devices used generally in Indian homes.

i have rarely seen a healthy 415/240 voltage even in urban India. More like 400/230 V. In rural areas, it is much worse. i have never had any equipment malfunction or burnout due to over/undervoltage. Do you have a real practical problem ?

Ah i see. Well, as someone said, you need a 415/220 V 3φ transformer. One more thing, as this is Japanese, do you need 60 Hz?

Will be interesting to see if our "Guest" requires 220V Ph–Ph or Ph–N

I read it as Ph-Ph. In some industries 230 Ph-Ph used to be quite common.
