When you talk about a Mercedes Benz and the steering arms, replace these with exactly the same type from MB or after market replacements.

To make it easier, remove the old ones and adjust the new ones to the same length before installing.

Then do a road trip and with the steering wheel in straight position: your car should go straight forward. If it choses a side, adjust the length and count the revolutions, mark the positions. If you go 1 turn to enlarge on one side, you will need to do the same but opposite, to keep your distance the same.

To remove the old ones, removing the ball joints can be tricky: you can use a wedge tool to loose them up, or with the help of second person, put some pulling tension on it with a crowbar or something appropriate, do not remove the nut completely, (otherwise you can easily get hurt by the parts or tools.) and hit the holder sideways with a 3-4 lbs hammer. It will eventually jump out, since the fit is conical.

It works easier when you can lift the car or put it above a work pit. I made a ball joint puller myself, but maybe where you live it is easy to find en not expensive.

I am replacing the lower control arms, NOT the steering arms!

According to the online catalogue at www.eurobizparts.com both the upper and lower control arms for your car come with a conical ball joint as part of the control arm assembly. Conical ball joint removal can be done several different ways as described previously.
