My Project Lives!!!

10/26/2010 12:21 PM

I would like members of cr4 to check out my bio-burner project. It is a camp sized stove, that burns common yard and storm debris in a in a nearly smoke and odor free manner, known as gassification. I call it "The Bio-Blaster".

It is built with 4 common pieces of scrap metal. No bolts, tight seals or welding required.

It is easy to modify to heat indoors, heat domestic hot water or run steam or thermoelectric power generators.

I have one set up in a mobile home right now, with a few more layers of steel and a dirt heatsink around it, and proper stovepipe and ventilation, etc.. But it works great burning wood chips and chunks/scraps.

After it is going, you can even throw in leftover food, pizza, fries, etc, to keep the heat going.

it can also be modified as a waste oil burner.

Check it out, and let me know what you all think about it.

This site is known for having intelegent life, even cats (hi, dell) posting and helping out.

The web site is www.thechipheater.com

Its best use though, is for outdoor emergencies or camping/hunting outings.

Please feel free to post this up anywhere you see fit for me, thanks, charles.

Dont kill this as spam, please, I am a member in good standing, and even have a few ga's to my credit.

Pretty neat and simple setup!

Your site looks good. One minor editing item: it should be "copyright" and "copyrighted" rather than "copywrite" and "copywritten."

Good luck with this.

ageniusforhire,

that's pretty cool.

If I live long enough to retire and move back to the farm, I'll order the plans.

Nice simple effective device. There are better ways to capture the heat (energy) escaping to the atmosphere. Considering it's also a heating device. Utilising or incorporating a simple radiating heat exchanger from the exhaust pipe is a thought. Also, depending on the design of the exchanger, it would diffuse the open flame off the stack. Having that amount of open flame would be banned around in our forest towns.

Still some slight modifications will make it more efficient as a heating device as the modifications would be another option to offer/sell. Your extended plans price could offer suggestions with designs to get "fancier" with fans, different materials and exhausting arrangements, redirecting, heating other materials (oil radiating heat, water, etc.), cooking adaptations, etc. Just some off the top thoughts for you.

One more observation, the pictures posted are of poor quality and may lend the same effect to the observer. Simple and easy to navigate is always a hit for me and yours provides that and it is also not cluttered with useless ads and banter. Kudos on that and good luck with your product!

The flame usually does not go that far out the top of the stack. Thats just showing the potential, with big dry wood chips. You can always add a shot of water into the stack to reduce the flare, if you need to.

The best cheap safe way i have come up with to capture the rxhaust heat is by mounting a 30 gallon gas style water heater over the top of it.

My indoor unit has been placed in a 30 gallon drum, then into a 55 gallon drum. The space between the 2 drums is filled with gravel, to act as a thermal storage heatsink.

The exhaust is currently vented out the window though.

I dont quite have room in here to store the exhaust heat, and cant set tanks outside for thermal storage yet.

The possibilities are almost endless for a mini gassifier like the bio-blaster.

Anything organic in nature can be used as fuel, once dried out. Waste oils can be added in for more btu's/heat as the burn cycle is going .

Now all i need is a big stack of thermoelectric generators, a tesla motors powertrain and that delorean on ebay, lol.

I will try to fix the font size next time i log in to the site builder. Thanks.

Saw your options page, cool with the thermal electrics. Also the fonts really small!
