Allen Bradley Panelview Communications

11/01/2010 7:20 PM

Hello:

I have designed and built a relatively simple status alarm/monitoring system for the emergency power system at one of our hospitals. The system is based around an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC with a PanelView C600 monitor. I would like to transmit that information to our Central Energy Center via our internal ethernet system. I know that both the PLC and Panelview have TCP/IP capabilities but I am not sure how to best utilize those capabilities to accomplish my needs. Can the Panelview communicate with another Panelview via TCP/IP ? Can the PLC communicate with a second Panelview remotely via TCP/IP ? What are your suggestions?

Thanks,

David

If you set all your modules (Panelview, Micrologix PLC, communications, Central Energy Center, etc.) on an Ethernet hub, you can definitely do this.

To figure out how, contact Allen Bradley.

You can connect to multi device as long as you deploy a network switch and the IP addresses are configured correctly in the panelview C600.

Refer to the following link for ideas how implement.

Thanks for the information. I thought it was possible, but one question that I have that keeps nagging me... how do I tell the PanelView where to look on the network for the ML1400 ? I think I know how to assign the ML1400 a static IP address but I just can't learn how to tell the PanelView to look for that IP address.
