Digital Satellite Receiver-Help Needed

03/18/2007 1:52 AM

Dear all

I have dish TV receiver with me. I heard that, the signal can be transmitted by wireless network to multiple users in the range of the frequency of the transmitter.

If anybody has done any R&D on these subject or any practical experience to share, are welcome. Any body got succes in upgrading the receiver software online, and getting codes to unlock some channels?

SVA.

I don't know about where you live but what you're proposing to do is probably illegal. If you want additional channels, I think you have to apply for them.

In the case of wirelessly transmitting to multiple users, that, too, is illegal. Done inside the home is okay, as far as I know. There are some in the market that you can buy where you just plug in the audio and video signals into and broadcast it to a maximum of 100 meters or so. Beyond that, it becomes illegal, even if you don't intend to profit from it.

If you want to provide satellite service for multiple users, you'd have to apply for a license. It's more hassle but you'll keep yourself out of jail, at least.

the satelite dish has a combined low noise amplifier and a block downconverter. It takes the 12 Ghz signal and turns it into a signal. They call it an LNB.

http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/lnb.htm

it outs out a signal that the receiver tunes to and unscrambles. If you have a receiver you can get 1 channel at a time and watch it. 2 receiver = 2 channels, on so one. each needs it's card to be legal. You can buy bootleg cards that programmers, but it is a felony, so choose what side of the law you will be on. In time someone will rat you or you will get caught. They then prosecute....or you pay the full shot for a licence for the past yrears you have lived there for all channels possible = lots

It is not like cable where it can be split and TV tunes it directly so they can all watch different channels.

If you are legal you can send your video here and there in the house for that one channel with a low power "rabbit".

. They went out of their way to make it hard to be a small time distributor

The equipment you need needs to have a license paid for, but if you want to do it over a cable to each enduser, that is possible (with no license fees) but not exactly cheap. In todays market, it would be cheaper for each enduser to have his own digital dish......

Sorry!!
