Why Galvanized CS is not Allowed for Concentrated Foam Piping

11/08/2010 6:04 AM

NFPA-11 states that Galvanized CS is not allowed to be used for foam piping. The peremissible materials is CS / Austenitic st. st.

The point is what is the effect of this media on the galvanized CS, which is considred a Coated CS while the uncoated CS can be used. It seems that it will cause a galvanic corrosion or something like this. ?????

This may be a corrosion issue; i.e., foam and zinc do not "like" each other.
