what type of welding will be suitable to join two ends of spring steel wire , since its already a hard wire after getting red hot in butt welding , or spot welding , it gets more brittle and breaks , from the joint
its not a repair of spring , we are planning for high production of spring steel wire ring used for automobile component , we need to weld 50,000 pieces per day .
Have you tried tempering after welding? Do you have an oven?
If I recall correctly, the metal incorporated into the weld puddle will require a very long soak time... and then will still not be a pliant/flexible as subject metal.
I'm not a metallurgist, but I believe you will need to temper the heat affected zone. If the base material was not already spring-tempered, you might get away with your current process.
The alternative is to weld the pieces BEFORE hardening & spring-tempering.
