I need to install pad eye on the existing structure inside generator room.
Location : Offshore Platform (Drilling rig converted to production platform)
Area : Generator room (D399 x 4 units)
Purposes - to lift the engine block (D399) for major overhaul in order to get an access to the crankshaft area. These pad eye will hold the engine block (bit tilted position) while the technician working on the crankshaft.
Weight of Engine block - approx. 5.5 tonne
Location of the pad eye : exactly on top main beam structure (roof) of each engine (inside the room)
Pad eye capacity : 9.5 tonne each
No of pad eye : 9 units
What I need to do before I can proceed with the pad eye installation i.e
> Structural calculation??? by structural engineer
> Structural reinforcement i.e stiffener etc
Pad Eye Selection : Done - we opt for 9.5 tonne
Pad Eye installation : WPS/PQR - approved
QC/Welding Inspector
NDT - MPI
Reference standard : EN12079 / DNV2.7-3
Perhaps somebody could enlighten the best way/method since the pad eye alone only cost a little but when inclusive the calculation the cost may shoot way up high.
Thanks
