HDPE Piping

11/10/2010 5:37 AM

Regarding HDPE Piping.

Pl. mention the reason why we can not include Plug, Eccentric reducer, Inserts, Bushings, Coupling in HDPE Piping

& why we should include Caps. Also correct me if I am wrong.

Design conditions are 150psig@73F.

Many Thanks for the info….

Sachin,

Your question does not make sense. Who said you "can not include" certain fitting items? And where was this restriction written?

I would think that if Plug, ECC Reducer, Insert, Bushing and Coupling fittings are made in HDPE (to the same specification as your pipe and other fittings) then these listed fittings should be available to use also.

"why we should include Caps. Also correct me if I am wrong." This does not make sense either.

I would like to know what He is using it for. 150 psi is what they use to pressure test water main or 3 times the working pressure. I never saw hdpe used for water, just for drainage.

sachin rastoqi HDPE pipe how are you joining the material ? Butt fusion or electrofusion ? Another question what is the pipe size range. There are some fittings available in both joining methods, but for example with butt fusion joning you would not use couplings. Plugs can be used with either a brass or stainless inserts on branch connections same with bushings. Eccentric reducers are also available but generally are fabricated. Caps are quite common in both butt fusion and electrofusion. Without additional info on the project hard to say why the porject does not call for these fittings.
