Please see several other CR4 threads on this topic, which remains unsettled.

Once you're dead, does it matter?

I have it on good authority that if you are killed by AC, you are 141% more dead than if you are killed by DC because of the Peak vs RMS Death Ratio.

Could be. But, I think you'll agree that in both cases you are permanently dead.

The one you touch is the more hazardous...

At lower levels (tens volts) and low frequencies, AC is more hazardous than DC (it is known that 24 50 Hz AC has killed many people). I may be wrong, 40 V AC and 110 V DC are however considered relatively safe. At higher frequencies, AC becomes less hazardous than DC, because of "skin effect" of alternative current of higher frequency (tends to cause outer burns rather than damages to inner organs).

It should be remembered that our "natural" protection against an electric shock, apart from being attentive and carefull wherever we are under risk of it, is the state of our skin. There are people, strong-nerved, with very thick and dry skin, who can easily touch conductors at least under 400 V AC! Don't try to repeat it !
