Single Phase Transformer

can i get neutral point in single phase transformer without making one of its terminal earthed ?

The answer is to go for an IT earthing system elsewhere on the load wiring, provided always that it is permitted by the electrical code used in the country of application.

  • IT is used in hospital operating theatres in the UK, as there is less risk of the power going off unexpectedly, which might cause fatalities on operating tables. However, as soon as one fault appears, IT becomes TT and the next fault will operate the circuit protective device(s).
