What is the difference between ss316 and F316 material?
ss vs F (whatever that might mean). (Sorry, I'm too lazy to look it up, as will be almost everyone else...)
"ss" is a general term meaning stainless steel.
F is used in many ASTM designations for forged materials, such a forged elbows or flanges.
Your two material designations are not specific enough....they are too vague.
For example a piping flange may be designated as ASME B16.5; Class 150 Grade F316L
But..can you describe SS316F? how is it different from SS316?
I guess its ss316F
I saw it on sea vessel scrap. interestingly, internet is of not much help to describe this unique grade.
