DP Transmitter Range

12/05/2010 10:01 AM

I am a student.any body tell me what will be the range of a DP Transmitter if we use this for measure of steam flow by using of orifice plate. The steam line Dia is 10" and steam pressure is 25 kg/cm2. How can we prove that the range is completely perfect. what 'll the range of Indicator that show the steam flow.

What kind of text mixes inches and cm? And isn't cm2 a unit of area?

Perfection is difficult to achieve, even if you are perfect.

Perfection is so often accompanied with arrogance that nobody real likes it.

DP transmitters measuring flow are so 1973. Nowadays, vortex-shedding flowmeters are dé rigeur for steam, and each one contains sufficient on-board intelligence and Human-Machine- Interface capability to make calculation unneccessary. Simply select one based upon the fluid conditions and the line size, and bolt it in-between-flanges during the assembly of the pipework.

It is not possible to range a DP cell on any fluid without the fluid conditions and the orifice plate diameter being known.

kg/cm2 is engineering units pressure units:
25 Kg/cm2 = ~25 bar = 356 psig

The data needed to size an orifice plate is not provided, but could be derived using some working assumptions for steam piping.

Working backwards, what data is needed to size an orifice plate for steam flow?

if the orifice plate size is known then what will the equation for range for example the orifice plate size is 6"....?
