12/11/2010 7:38 AM

Hi Guys Your Help please

i am looking for links to really good training videos i can download about the modern car

i would like videos highlighting how the various parts of the car work

videos of inside working IC engines etc

multi point injection sequential injection etc.

some basic videos for my students who are new this line of work

some of my new students are main line education drop outs, But i have found they have the ability to understand mechanical principles

Possibly because they are interested in this field

your help is appreciated

In the back of the automotive magazines there used to be a selection of books devoted to specific autos, or as the magazines became more brand specific, the books would become more narrow in their scope, but more detailed. These have been replaced lately by videos. These should give you some decent videos. I read recently where Ryer Morrison, who have built some world class engines for drag racers, has offered an upgraded video on engine building. I have heard it is loaded with sharp details. This should be an early purchase for your students. It will let all know that you are not just stuffing some old WW2 maintenance information at them.

Here is an easy fun thing for you to give your class. Take a text book of 500 plus pages, and have them identify each page they can as to who was the engine manufacturer that used that displacement. Examples 396=Chevrolet, 392=Chrysler & International. You will have to put some limits on what is eligible, and what years, but it should be good for some interesting discussions.

If I see any interesting videos, I will forward them to you. Enjoy.
