What happens when a 24V filament lamp is connected, rather than a... never mind.

You haven't contacted the turbine manufacturer, have you?

I would start by contacting the manufacturer of the equipment. Anything suggested might be total speculation and do more harm than good.

They tried to store a cast iron bathtub once, and it got broken.

At least no-one connected a 24V filament lamp to it.

I don't have a checklist but I may have solved your storage problem (if you have a Rolls Royce rotor)

Here is a nifty storage container: http://www.energymanager-online.com/documents/fact_sheets/es6010.pdf

One item in the brochure that caught my eye was: All new rotor purchases are shipped with a storage container".

If you buy a new rotor, you can store the old rotor in the "shipped" storage container that the new one came in.

It's sort of like you get the storage container for free, sort of .

Yeah. I got one, Dude. Only, if I got it wrong and it gets broken, who gets sued?

There are several types of containers. Some are horizontal, some are vertical, simply supported, hung and like. Yes, as all said, should go to manufacturer to help.

In my experience, though having such extensive facilities of storages, most of the spare rotors were not readily usable, rusted or bowed because not been taken proper maintenance. Proper maintenance is required even when they are at rest under storage, by the way of maintaining the Nitrogen pressure/purge, rotating them at suggested interval etc.

So it is very important to have a proper storage as suggested by manufacture and proper maintenance as well. Due respect has to be given, as you do for a running equipment, preferably including these into your 'preventive maintenance program'.
