When changing refrigeration system from old phased out refrigerants like r12 ,r502 ,to ozone ferriendly refrigerant like r410 ,i know we change compressor oil, driers ,and thorough flashing. That is all for the system ,what of the compressor ,since these new refrigerants like 410a has a high working pressure.Do we have a specific compressor type that is specifically made for these high pressure refrigerents.I had two compressors that failed after the change over. The one is the open type compressor ,belt driven and semi hermetic. After all was done i charged the belt driven compressor to about 120psi,after about twenty minutes the pulling belts started screeching,i stopped it and changed the belt.I align them nicely ,but still the same.Does this means the electric motor is now small or the refrigerant pressure,or the compressor type cannot match the pressure .The simi hermetic compressor ,after all was done ,and the charge was almost 95psi it started tripping. Its a six hosepower compressor with a power consumption of 10amps at full load. Its tripping a 20amp breaker. All along it was working pretty well until this changeover. What might be the cause.
