DG Set Consumption 25 KVA

We have to run 25 KVA DG set for apartment lift (6 person lift) for 16 hours a day. It mostly runs on no load. As per thumb rule 25 KVA DG consumes about 5 lit/ hour on full load. Please can anyone tell how much it will consume per hour at no load (DG running but no load on it.

Assume, at no load condition, the engine will produce 4 kW

Diesel energy density is 39 MJ/Liter

5 L/hr is 5*39e6/3600= 54 kW

Assume Pf =1,

25kVA/54kW=0.46, your DG set efficiency is 46%

So, at no load, 4kW, power generated by DG is 4kW/.46=8695 W

= 8695*3600 J/ hr= 31.3 MJ /hr

31.3 MJ /hr is 31.3MJ/39MJ = 0.8 Liter/ hr
