Solar Power in India - Where's the Market?

12/23/2010 12:10 AM

Along with domestic consumption.. is there a market segment for concentrated Solar Power that's totally or partially dependent on the current grid and what are the financial opportunities-with risks and advantages.. i'm doing a study on what/when the returns will be on investment.. And I've read this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101214/india_nm/india535487 and also somewhere on cr4 that there's scope for a 100 more.. so where do existing industry products fail? - technical gaps and all.. are there currently any players in the market who're in knee deep and dominating solar energy in India..

I'm sorry, but this question doesn't make even the tiniest shred of sense. In particular, solar power is not notably dependent on the grid. Indeed, mostly the opposite.

uhm.. dependency as in supplying peak loads during the day directly via solar nd making up for the rest without use of storage during the night by tapping off the grid..

Let me see if I have this right... you live in India but ask an international forum for info about the state of a given market in India.

I don't know... but it seems to me you need to study your own market.

Tell you what, after you do the study, come back here and give us the results so we can regurgitate them the next time a guy from India comes and asks the same question.

I'm studying solar insolation.. i don't know how market research is done..im an engineering student..not a management student..so i'll never understand what this techno-management stuff is about.. Deserts in india are most suitable..but pv cells aren't made to withstand high temperatures.. southern india has high humidity and daytime temperatures evenduring winter.. i want to proceed with this study knowing about how top players are proceeding with erection.. so areas where further growth and expansion are to be made can be predicted..
