Kia Rio Battery Saver Function

12/24/2010 9:58 PM

This function is meant to turn off all lighting (head/park/dash) once the ignition key is removed and the driver's door is opened. It will also operate if used in the reverse order.

In my case there is an intermittant fault that leaves the lights on with the well known result.OK at night but in daylight@#$%^&*!!!!!! My Kia dealer is no good as the BS funtion always works for him and he will not look at anything that is apparently serviceable. I have deduced that the ignition switch, or the door switch, or a relay that can be heard working as the lights go out have the intermittant fault.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix. Thanks guys. Brian.

Thanks Pedro. By the 4th Google page things started to go 'off topic' so I quit. However I did find one reference to my problem, to wit, a "Daylight Running Module", which probably is, or contains the relay I mentioned in my post. I will see if I can convince Kia to put in a new one. PS. I call all my Peter friends 'Pedro' so I hope you don't mind. Brian.

I too, Pedro.LOL. I have even been called 'late for breakfast'. What a bummer. I haven't been to Kia yet being the festive season and all that. Have a good and prosperous New Year. I see you are in the UK, so are you coping with all that white stuff that keeps falling out of the sky? Have pity on us poor Western Australians in Perth who are looking forward to 5 days of 40deg C. I hope my aircon will handle it

Brian

I ran into (not literally) a guy who said the door microswitch is the problem which could be solved by putting 'Blue Tac' around the switch. Apparently something to do with pressure applied. Sounds a bit odd to me.
