Please ask the question with sufficient detail. What this 3000?. I will take 3000 as speed of turbine shaft. We know that Jacking oil is required to lift the turbine shaft during startup. I think oil wedge will be formed while the shaft is running. Then how the oil wedge will replace the work of jacking oil. If oil wedge will do the work of jacking oil then we can eliminate jacking oil in 1500 rpm turbines also. please clarify.

Dear Mr. Natarajan,

You are right and I agree with your views. Wedge does not help. The question is NOT clear.

In fact jacking is more important when the Turbine has tripped, and the Temp. is high.

Dear Mr. gopal gadhavi,

Your question is not clear. If I understand correctly, you mean for the speed of 3000 (and more) jacking is not required.

Jacking is a MUST when the Turbine has tripped and when it is HOT.
