More Silly Signs?

01/06/2011 7:22 AM

<rant>

Close to nearly every hot water tap on nearly every sink/basin in the UK workplace, there is a sign that says something like .

Now from a really young age, people discover that when one turns on a hot water tap, one shouldn't really be surprised when hot water comes out of it!

This particular sign does assume that the person operating the tap has noticed it (how many motorists notice and take correct action on a sign, for instance?) has a sufficient command of English, is intelligent enough to read and understand it, and can consider the implications of any action before it takes place. Then, so does a simple red insert on the top of the hot tap handle - and that only assumes that the operative is not colour-blind...

So, is this hot water sign really there just to protect the employer against incurring liability for the stupidity of action of the persons it employs, or what?

It seems that starting a sign-making company is a licence to print money!

</rant>

Any more silly signs?

You can thank the lawyers........and the politicians.

I've always thought this sign was hysterical. It appears in the American southwest, and the signs are moving out in all directions every year. It means don't run over the people that are sneaking into the country. I guess they don't know to look both ways before crossing the street.

Having never been to the southwest, that one truly leaves me wondering in disbelief.

I have a brother in southern New Mexico. Those signs are all over the place down there. The first time I saw one, all I could say is................what the hell?

I guess, before someone jumps down my throat, I should mention, that aside from the criminals and cartels, I don't have anything against, or blame those people for coming here. Once they get past the border, they become eligible for schooling, housing, welfare, healthcare, food stamps, etc. All things that I have to pay for............just wanted to set the record straight. I do hold people to blame, but it's not them.

The stop sign has no meaning up here. Most people just tap the brakes and roll right on through. Ticks me off to no end.

Several years ago, one guy tried to beat a traffic ticket, for not stopping, by arguing the text was too ambiguous. Stop where? For how long? What do I do after I've stopped? Some people belong in a cage.

I used to work for an ag manufacturer several years ago. A customer had stopped his tractor in the field and raised the bucket to create some shade while he ate his lunch. The hydraulics failed and he was pancaked. All our implements were promptly covered in warning decals. Darwin was proud, I'm sure.

WTF??? That's weirder than the "Bunny" signs one sees down in the land of Oz.....rabbits running Willy nilly about the place because there are no natural predators to curb the rabbit population.

Now back to the sign, as posted: Curiously, the sign doesn't state "Caution Brake for Illegals"....

Does one accelerate or brake, swerve, stop, or give them a lift back to the Mexican Border or the nearest Border Patrol office? hehehehe Somehow I just don't think a 18-wheeler is going to brake in time if it's travelling at highway speed...such a shame.

Anyhow, its the "system" that is broken that allows them to garnish all of the social freebies at Taxpayer expense....something that desperately needs major revamping.

PW: I think the lawyers in the UK are running Willy nilly too with the posting of these hot water caution signs, in the same vein just like the Aussie's whabbitts! I guess in the UK there is no "Open Hunting Season" on them nor natural predators to squash them flat? Maybe y'all need to buy some steam rollers and employ them like in the movie "A Fish Called Wanda"? LOL

I have to find that RR platform!

One has to wonder if that same sign applies to dance platforms at the local men's club, eh? Hey, I'm being nice with the use of my language here...I could have used crude language instead! LOL

Those aren't signs. They're career path indicators!

I really wonder who's behind the posting of the nude sunbathers eating waffles sign? Possibly a few of the Monty Python cast? LOL Amazingly English dry humor at it's finest by the looks of it!
