01/10/2011 3:30 AM

Control Guys,

We need your input concerning 4 - York Chiller Elink card(York Talk3) which is not communicating to HMI/PLC Prosoft MVI56-MCM(Modbus communication) but only communicating to Allen Bradley Powermonitor 3000.

Site connection, troubleshooting/observation carried out are as follows:

1. York chiller is daisy chained connected with 2wired + shield into prosoft MVI56-MCM and configured to Port 2, Baud rate 9600, Mac addressess 1 to 4 - but chilller program parameters display is not communicating to Rslogix5000.

2. Allen Bradley Powermonitor 3000 is 2 wired connected/configured to Port 1, Baud rate: 9600, Address: 15 and parameters are displayed(Normal) at RSlogic5000.

3. Modbuscan by York indicate normal parameters(Chiller 1 to 4) at their servce lap top, but no communication to HMI/PLC once connected and cold both several times at MVI56-MCM carreid out.

4. All York chiller daisy wire connection are respectively checked and shows normal

4. Several attempt to rectify said issue with negative result.

Any advice recommendation is highly appreciated. - Nelson

Phone someone. Start with York, then move on to Allen Bradley.

When you say "9600 baud", that infers serial Modbus RTU communciations, not Modbus TCP over ethernet.

But you also mention "MAC addresses" which infers ethernet communication. I suspect you mean slave node addresses, not MAC addresses, but let's establish what's what:

1) Is communication from the York chiller to the Prosoft module serial RS-485 or ethernet on Prosoft port 2?

2) Does the AB Powermonitor 3000 successfully talk Modbus RTU over RS-485 on Prosoft port 15?

3) Did you set up the AB Powermonitor 3000, or was it already up and running when you tried to add the chillers?

4) What have you attempted with the chillers that has resulted in negative results for Modbus comm?
